Teaching Aims: After the cla, the students will be able to: 1.Gain some knowledge about some Biblical idioms.2.Practice and reinforce their reading comprehension.Teaching Aids:

The multimedia and the blackboard Teaching method: Task-based activities Teaching Procedures: Step 1.Lead in Show students the following sentences.And have students gue the meanings of the idioms.1.the apple of one’s eye 2.Judas ki 3.He’s like a fish out of water.Goal: To lead the students into the topic and arouse their interest.Step 2.Pre-reading Write the title “Biblical idioms in English” of the paage on the blackboard.And lead students to do prediction.Question: What will we learn in the text? Can you gue? Goal: To create doing expectation to be active readers.Step3.While-reading 1.Fast reading 1)Have students to go through the reading paage as quickly as poible and try to find answers to the questions in Part A on P50.2)Check the answers together.Goal: To improve students’ ability to find general information.2.Careful reading 1)Have students read paage again and complete Part C1 on P52 individually.2)Check the answers one by one.Goal: To check students’ reading comprehension and improve their ability to find specific information.3.Application 1)Have students to complete Part C2 on P52.2)Check the answers one by one.Goal: To make students apply these idioms into practical usage.Step4.Post-reading 1)Have students work in group to discu the three questions in Part F on P53.And students can choose one of them to talk.2)Have several groups report their answers to the cla.Goal: To make students know more about English idioms and learn more about English culture.Step5.Homework Have students complete Part D on P52 and Part F on P53.Goal: To consolidate what students have learnt.
