I remember I first read Robinson Crusoe in my high school.That time I read just for fun.I was attracted by the intricate details.But this time I am on the book had a deeper understanding.This is a novel by the English author Daniel Defoe, published in 1719.The book is a fictional autobiography of the title character—awho spends 28 years on a remote tropical island.It is one of the most popular adventure novels in all literature.The leading actor of this story is Robinson Crusoe, an Englishman who is shipwrecked in a lonely tropical island.He builds himself a hut, grows his own food, and becomes self-sufficient.After 23 years he meets with a group of cannibals and rescues one of their prisoners, a young native who he calls Friday.Crusoe and his “man” Friday become close friends, and when they are finally rescued four years later, both return to England.I think Robinson is a miracle.He lived on the island for 28 years, and always had the risk of attack by wild beasts.The life in the island is no friends;do not have enough food and little hope of living.But he overcame.He encountered many difficulties and even disease.Robinson used his own hands in the wilderne tent, dug a cave, beat the wall, built for himself a safe and strong, “Castle”.Because of living, he have to eat the food that on the ship, but it is really limited, if not self-reliance, Robinson may died.He then began his own crops, animals in captivity.The weather is changeable on a desert island, Robinson's first year on the island fell ill, and however, there is no medicine.Instead of taking medicine, he ate leaves which succefully saved his life.Robinson is a real hero in my heart and is treated with respect.He lived on the island for about 30 years without any food, tool or habitation.He must depend by himself.But Robinson wasn’t afraid of hardships, he has the fortitude spirit.He uses his head and hands to struggle with the nature even him.If I stay on a lonely island, I absolutely couldn’t overcome dangers, even giving up my life.I talk many things about Robinson, but I would like introduce another character----Friday.He was saved by Robinson who named him Friday.Friday brought emotional warmth to the people around him.I think it was this personality that affected Crusoe and made him
say that he loved Friday when Crusoe didn’t expre love for his parents, brothers, sisters, or even his wife.“When he espied me, he came running to me, laying him down again upon the ground, with all the poible signs of a humble, thankful disposition, making many antic gestures to show it…to let me know how he would serve me as long as he lived.” This was what Friday did after Crusoe had rescued him from the two savages chasing him.After some days, Crusoe and Friday were to rescue Friday’s father.When Friday reunited with his father, the scene was easy to move anyone: “It would have moved anyone to tears to have seen how Friday kied him, embraced him, hugged him, cried, laughed, helloed, jumped about, danced, sung;and then sung and jumped about again, like a distracted creature.It was a good while before I could make him speak to me.” This is my favorite chapter in the whole book.I think Defoe is very succeful in introducing Friday as part of the novel;it makes the whole novel seem much more complete.Natives and savages are not worse than others.But they can perhaps even be more modern and civilized.It is the reason of why I like The Life and
Adventures of Robinson Crusoe and Friday.In fact, we also need the spirit of being indefatigable.Like Robinson.If we believe in ourselves, never give up and do we best, we must be succeful!The world is not perfect, but we can change our fate.Every time our students are in trouble, we always tell ourselves we can not.Why? because we are not confident enough.If we have confidences and work hard, we absolute will be victorious.We are now college students, many challenges we have never suffer.If we give up easily, we can not see the rainbow of the life.The master of our life is us.We perhaps can not control the length of our life but we can control its width and depth.It is important to believe that faith will move mountains and never give up.
