As we all know, English is an international language. I am 14 years old nowand I’ve learnt English for 9 years. It has become a part of my life. I thinkEnglish is not only important but also very useful to me.
I have never thought that, I would pay such more attention to learningEnglish because when I was six, I always got bad marks at school and I could notfigure out the letters “ R” and “K”。 Yeah, that is impossible.
One day, my mom came to school and took me home and she saw the letters onthe blackboard. She pointed to “R” and asked me “What is this?”---“R”。 “And whatabout this one”? She pointed to “K”。---“R”! I answered. “Are you sure?”---“Yep,mummy, They are the same!” I said confidently! My mom shook her head with anupset face. She was so disappointed with me. From then on, she tried to use manydifferent ways in order to improve my English, such as inviting the privateteachers with high salary; finding foreign teachers online; buying lots ofEnglish books or encouraging me to enter different English competitions and soon. And I also worked very hard. I got up early every morning to read Englishbooks aloud and had English classes for hours. Sometimes I felt really tired andI had no progress. I felt frustrated! Luckily, my mum is always with me! Shewanted me to learn everything happily but not with lots of pressure. She triedto make me relax. It was a kind of logical game. I think the way to learn English is still thesame. After a difficult training time, I found that: the more English I’velearnt patiently,the more confidence I’ve got and the more interested I was inlearning English.
I am an outgoing girl. I love to explore and know more about the world. Ihave some friends from different countries. At first, I could not follow themclearly. But they were friendly. They treated me as a member of their family. Wecould play jokes to each other or share something interesting together. Iremembered one day I had mentioned to my American teacher that I had a fightwith my friend and I felt left behind. She stopped for a moment and said: “Itdoesn’t matter. I am always with you.” At that time I felt really warm.Sometimes I talk with my friends on Skype and some of them on QQ. And one of myfriend came from Philippines had asked me to give him the QQ red bag.Veryinteresting, right?
During the time when I learn English, I understand a point clearly that is“Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can. I feel so happy to have the chance to make a speech. The title of my speech is Protect the Environment, Protect Ourselves. I hope you will like it.
Everybody knows waste paper and used coke cans are discarded everywhere. You might have seen plastic bags flying in the sky and getting caught in the trees when the wind blows or maybe you have seen old cans floating in the rivers and polluting the water. Our environment is the place in which we live, but it is being ruined by us.
There is a story about house and trees. It is said that a man’s house was surrounded by a lot of trees. Though the wind was strong, that man could have a good rest under the trees. How comfortable the life was! One day, that man wanted to enlarge his house, so he cut down all the trees. Then the autumn came without the protection. The strong wind blew the roof of the house into the sky. The whole house was gone with the wind. What a pity! But that’s the price people have to pay for destroying in the ecology balance. People shouldn’t be short-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone’s task.
As you know, there are four kinds of pollution. They are air pollution, water pollution, waste pollution and noise pollution. But what can we do to solve the pollution? I think, firstly, we can make cars that don’t pollute the environment. We can ask companies to use modern clean technology. In some big cities, we can limit the number of cars. Secondly, we can try to use less water and make sure that we do not pollute the water. We can tell factories that they are not allowed to pour waste water into the lakes and rivers. Thirdly, we should not throw rubbish in parks and cities. We can pick up rubbish if we see it. We can put more rubbish bins in our parks and cities. Fourthly, we can live far from the noise and make the laws to limit the noise.

当我还是高一年级时，我看到台上哥哥姐姐舌灿莲花，充满自信的表现，让我崇拜不已，我期待有一天我也能像他们一样，能站在学校的舞台，尽情的表现自己。没想 到当我升上四年级时，竟然意外获得校长的推荐，给了我一个梦寐以求的英语演讲机会。当老师告诉我这个从天上掉下来的消息时，剎那间，我吓得目瞪口呆。
我怀着既期待又紧张的心情准备，在练习的过程中，英语老师为了要我适应计时铃声，控制好说完故事的时间，模拟了比赛铃声响起的.各种突发状况。 当我第一次练习听到催促的铃声，我心想：“天啊！超过时间会被评审扣分！”顿时，我难过得流下伤心的眼泪。老师频频安慰我，要我心平气和熟悉比赛的气氛。
经过反覆的练习，我渐渐的适应铃声所带给我的影响，并且能驾轻就熟的把握时间，最后，我终于能在规定时间内说完故事，也得到更多的自信。
到了正式比赛的当天，我自信满满带着精心设计的各种道具来到比赛现场。每个参赛对手实力坚强，看到每个人将辛苦练习的成果，淋漓尽致的展现在舞台上，激起了我强大的斗志。轮到我上台时，我从容自若气定神闲的态度，以及灿烂可爱的笑容，博得评审和观众如雷的掌声，英语老师和亲自前来为我鼓励打气的爸妈都极力称赞我，我对自己的表现给予最高的评价，大家都斩钉截铁的认为冠军非我莫属。
当成绩公布时，出乎意料的，我居然名落孙山，当场嚎啕大哭，爸妈只能在一旁安慰鼓励我。
虽然这样的结果，让我难过不已，但“要怎么收获先那么栽”，我坚信只要我持续不懈，总有一天能为学校争取荣誉，我的努力将为自己种出一片幸福的花田。
