Today my topic is Halal food.Since we are talking about food recently, I think I finally have a chance to tell you this which I want to tell you for a long time.This is an answer to a question that I have been asked for so many times.That is----why can’t you eat pork?
Eating is a basic need of our lives, for us to live, to work, to do everything.But eat is not just a basic needs for to be alive, for different nations, eating shows their culture, their history and their belief.I was born in a Muslim family, my parents, my grandparents and their parents are Muslims.For that, I has been taught how to choose my food since I was very young.The food we eat called Halal food.so, what is the Halal food? Does anyone here know about it? PPT3
Halal is a word from Arabic, means permitted, lawful.It is not just for food, but also covered many other parts of Muslims’ life.It means the things we should do and the food we should eat according the Islamic law, the Qur’an.I will just focus on food today.Ppt4
The Halal food in Chinese is Qing Zhen, if you try to explain this word to Arabic people, they are definitely can’t understand.This word only used by Chinese Muslim.The original word was from a Song ci, used to describe people who is pure and honest and gentle.Since Yuan dynasty the Islamic culture started to localize in China, qingzhen started to be use for Chinese Muslim, the place for pray called 清真寺，and the Halal food could 清真食品。PPT5(VIDEO)

Why can’t we eat those things? Actually I should say why don’t we eat those things? Ppt9（2）
There are at least three reasons for this question:
First, it is unhealthy to eat those.PPT12
The pig don’t not have good lifestyle which makes them easier to carry disease.And actually it has many parasites itself.And blood, the scientists has proved that most of the contagion infect by blood.So it is not suitable to be a kind of food.Also alcoholic drink.We believe alcohol can confuse peoples’ mind, lead people do bad things, so we are not allowed to drink any alcohol.On the other hand, lamb is a very health food, which could tonifying our body and warm people up in the winter.And why we don’t eat the meat which does not been slaughter in Allah’s name? actually that means the animal should be slaughter by Muslim, imam.We believe that the animal and human beings all created by Allah, we are equal.Even if animal have to became our food, it has to be by Allah’s name.He gives us life and animals’ life, and he let us be the head of all the creatures in the Earth, so some of the animals has to sacrifice to be our food.We have to be thankful and feel respect to the animals’ sacrifice.What’s more, we believe that everyone should keep being kind in this world, so that we will not been put in to the hell when we dead.For we have something to afraid, it is easier for us to keep ourselves in the right way and do the right thing.The same with a Muslim cook, he would keep in mind, that he should cook food in right and lawful way, without putting bad things for earn more money.Especially earn money for sacrifice other peoples’ health even life.So Halal food are usually safer than other food.Because the cook has belief, he would not take a risk for suffer in the hell in his later life.And the basic request for qingzhen food are: the cook should clean himself before cook;the kitchen should be clean;the cookers should be clean, and the meat has to be clean, should be slaughtered in Allah’s name and totally without blood.In other word, Qingzhen means every proce during the cooking should be clean.Ppt13
Second, we believe that food can influence people’s character.Pigs don’t have good lifestyle, they eat everything without considerate whether it is clean or not.They are very lazy, don’t clean themselves often.And some of they has relationship with their mother which is really unmoral even for animals.So we prefer to choose the animals like cow and sheep, they eat gra only, drink water which is very clean, and they are modest, gentle and filial.Just like people who believe in Islam, Muslim, which means comply in Arabic.Ppt15 The last but not last reason is that, it is a way to keep our belief in mind.Belief is not just a thing that, when you want something, you ask for it from the one you believe in.belief is a spirit support when you are hopele, miserable or confused.It is a light in the night and a compa when you’re lose.A law in heart, a guide in mind.It’s not just been put on moth, it has to be something, something can remind you all the time, you are a person who have belief, and your belief teach you to go right way and do right things.Don’t forget that.There is not such a thing can remind us about it more then eating.When we are choosing food, we think about the belief, when we are cooking, we keep in mind the food should be clean and be the best we can cook.When we are eating we say Alhamdulillah which means :”Thank you Allah for give us such delicious food.” And when we are hungry, we think about we can be stronger when we come over this difficult.And for me, it is a duty to inherit our Hui nationality, since we do not actually have our own language, the belief became almost the only thing could show our identity of being Hui people.At last I would not allow my nationality ended up in me.This is a part of me, it is a way for me to be myself, not anybody else.So, as I said eating is never a simple thing which just for maintain peoples’ lives.It’s remind us about where are we from and where we rooted in, it represented our culture and identity.And also our principle.Halal food shows mercy of Islam: we eat animals for food, but we respect them by being not cruel.We never say the word “kill” 杀, we say slaughter 宰.We covered animals’ eyes, we ask Allah to release their pain and we use the most sharp knife for end their painful as soon as poible, and we produce meat as much as we can eat----wasting is a crime.Ppt16

Many of my friend, especially who from the south of China, showing their worry about me.“Oh such a poor girl, you can only eat lanzhoulamian!”
Well, I thanks for their care, but my point is, I’m not poor at all.Last spring I went to Cheng Du with my friends, it was really hard to find QingZhen food there.So I had two meals in there days.I remember the day we went to Dujiangyan, that was a raining day, very cold and damp, when the end of the visit I start my first meal that day----my dinner.And I find this: A whole path with Qing Zhen restaurant!I was wondering why, and when I walk a little bit further, I find this----a Mosque.That is another function of Halal food----get Muslim people together.And qing zhen food is defenitly not just LANZHOU LAMIAN！!
Ppt18 We have Beijing style hot pot, called SHUANYANGROU in Chinese this is the most famous two in Beijing.Ppt19 And as the source of Chinese-Islamic culture, Xi’an has the Muslims’ street, there are many yummy food welcome thousands of visitors from all over the world everyday.Also in Xinjiang, one of the Most important place in silk rode—the Islam culture came in to China along with the silk road, there are also many amazing Halal food there.It almost our lunch time, I don’t want to make your stomach crying.For myself, I’m not afraid of hungry at all, what I do feel comfortable is, there were times, my friends have to hungry with me for they don’t what to leave me alone, and I feel so sorry about that.There also problem for Halal food now, for example, some of the restaurant are not looks clean, which really do harm to the image of qingzhen food.And some people pretend to be Muslim, run a qingzhen restaurant but didn’t offer real qingzhen food, that’s a big harm for Muslim people.Meanwhile, people don’t have sence of Halal food, most of people think Halal means no pork and pork produces, because of that, I met some redicoules things: once I went to Haidilao with my friend, and I said I’m not going to order anything cause it is not qingzhen.And the …….And another time I was in Chengdu, looking for…..she think I was ask for sth not spice.And also, we all know that selling alcohol can bring great profit to the seller, and people use to drink when they are eating together.so the big qingzhen restaurant face a challenge now, should they sell alcohol or not?
