Chinese people always appreciate the purposes and principles of Olympic ideal, support the efforts of Olympic Games to promote world peace.The Chinese Government and people are doing our the utmost/best to prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, and shooting at the pageant with advocating Olympic ideal, sparkpluging world peace and enhancing the relationships among the world.Olympic spirit are gonna spread again in orient cultural ancient China.The government and people of China have always admired the purposes and principles of the Olympic spirit and supported the efforts made by the Olympics in promoting world peace.The Chinese government and people are doing our utmost in preparation for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.It is our hope to make it a grand gathering that will carry forward the Olympic spirit, promote world peace and enhance the friendship among people of the world, so that the Olympic spirit will flourish once again, this time in China, an oriental country with an ancient civilization.中国人民一向赞赏奥林匹克精神的宗旨和原则，支持奥林匹克运动为促进世界和平所做的努力。中国政府和中国人民正全力以赴，做好2008年北京奥运会的筹备工作，力争把2008年奥运会办成一次弘扬奥林匹克精神、促进世界和平、增进各国人民友谊的盛会，让奥林匹克精神在中国这一东方文明古国 再次得到发扬。
Ladies and Gentlement ,thanks for your time to be here,i am honered to have this opportunity to talk to u, i 'd like to share with u my thoughts.in my opinion, learning E is easy for us, we can listen to the tape,movie ect..., but practicing is hard , if we can't try to use what we have learned in our daily life ,it is easy to forget.i know many friends, they are good at reading and writing, they have paed the CET4 or CET6, but their pronunciation is terrible, it is hard for them to say something in E, even the simple introduction.that's why i want to create a good environment for myself, for all friends who like E, our E club is named :" Ms &Mr Right English Club , as i hope all the friends can find their Ms right or Mr right, whatever in your busine or in your daily life, as u know, the good partner just like the sun shine, We feel good to have them, u are welcome to be here frequantely, just make yourself as at home, English is our family, u can feel free to be the host or hoste ,i think that is a good way to improve your E soon.Let's practice E together, let's conquer E together.Thought it is a long way to succe, we have so many partners, We are not alone,it is great to know that.I am a home-maker now, i quited my job on March, 9 this year, i worked for a company from The Unite States before.i want to try my own busine, and i want to spend more time on my little baby.i know many mothers, same as me, some of themquit their job for the children or family.they also have desire to learn E well ,as their KIDs have to learn E ,as u know, E is a international language, I think we can be good E techers at teching our children, we can learn E together, that's a good reason pushing us to learn E well, we need to pay more attention in our pronunciation...., We can try our best to make the language environment for our KIDs.i love my family, and i have a dream that one day ,i have good ability to earn much money ,let my husband can take a long holiday , half a year or one year, he won't have the preure to work supporting our family.让生活充满激情
Thirty college students acro the country attended the Tenth 21st Century Cup National English Speaking Contest in Beijing on April 10.Eventually, Xia Peng, from Nanjing University was named the champion.The second and third places went to Zhang Jing, a sophomore from China Foreign Affairs University, and Zhang A Xu, from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, respectively.More than 1000 college students in Beijing are lucky birds to listen to the speeches on the spot in Friendship Hotel.Just make to it the finals, they had to get past 60 others speaking on “The impact of globalization on traditional Chinese values”.That was at the semi-final on April 8-9.What will Chinese college students think about the impact? What will satisfy us at last? Therefore, we can see, to get the real Succe we must need something inside, which is the realization of people’ hopes and ideals.Different people have different ideas about succe;cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another.But I am sure every succe is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the proce of our striving for succe, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility.These are the best treasures.So now I am very proud that I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you.It is my succe, cause I raise up to challenge my hope.What is succe? More important than winning the Cup is the friendship that has been established and developed among the contestants, and the chance to communicate offstage in addition to competing onstage.Also the competition helps boost public speaking in China, a skill hitherto undervalued.For me, though, the competition is a more personal experience.Habitually shy, I had been reluctant to take part in any such activities.Encouraged by my friends, however, I made a last-minute decision to give it a try.In the course of preparation I somehow rediscovered myself, a truer me.I found that, after all, I like communicating with other people;that exchanging views can be so much fun—and so much rewarding, both emotionally and intellectually;that public speaking is most effective when you are least guarded;and that it is eential to succe in every walk of life.At a more practical level, I realized knowing what you are going to say and how you are going to say it are equally important.To take the original ideas out of your head and transplant them, so to speak, to that of others, you need to have an organized mind.This ability improves with training.Yet there should not be any lo or addition or distortion in the proce.Those ideas that finally find their way into another head need to be recognizably yours.Language is a means to transmit information, not a means to obstruct communication.It should be lucid to be penetrating.In China, certain public speaking skills have been unduly emphasized.Will it really help, we are compelled to ask, to bang at the podium or yell at the top of your lungs, if you have come with a poorly organized speech, a muddled mind, and unwillingne to truly share your views? Above all, the single most important thing I learnt was that as a public speaker, you need to pay attention, first and foremost, to the content of your speech.And second, the structure of your speech: how one idea relates and progrees to another.Only after these come delivery and non-verbal communication: speed control, platform manner, and so on.Pronunciation is important, yet of greater importance is this: Is your language competent enough to expre your ideas exactly the way you intend them to be understood? I was informed afterwards that I was chosen to be the winner for my ”appropriately worded speech, excellent presence and quick-witted response”.In so remarking, the judges clearly showed their preference: they come to listen for meaningful ideas, not for loose judgments, nor easy laughters.Some contestants failed to addre their questions head on.Some were able to, but did not know where to stop—the dragging on betrayed their lack of confidence.The root cause was that they did not listen attentively to the questions.Or they were thinking of what they had prepared.As I said in my speech, ”It is vitally important that we young people do more serious thinking...to take them [iues like globalization] on and give them honest thinking is the first step to be prepared for both opportunities and challenges coming our way”.We need to respond honestly.A competition like this draws talented students from all over the country.And of course, I learnt more things than just about public speaking.Since in the final analysis, public speaking is all about effective communication.And this goes true for all communications, whatever their setting.And the following is the final version of my speech: GLOBALIZATION: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES FOR CHINA'S YOUNGER GENERATION Thirty years ago, American President Richard Nixon made an epoch-making visit to China, a country still isolated at that time.Premier Zhou Enlai said to him, ”Your handshake came over the vastest ocean in the world—twenty-five years of no communication”.Thirty years since, China and America have exchanged many handshakes.The fundamental implication of this example is that the need to communicate acro differences in culture and ideology is not only felt by the two countries but by many other nations as well.As we can see today, environmentalists from different countries are making joint efforts to addre the iue of global warming, economists are seeking solutions to financial crises that rage in a particular region but nonethele cripple the world economy, and politicians and diplomats are getting together to discu the iue of combating terrorism.Peace and prosperity has become a common goal that we are striving f
