Knowledge Gained From The Visit To HKBU

This five-day long visit to HKBU(Hong Kong Baptist University)provided me a significant and an unforgetable experience ,which gave me the opportunity to take a look on how Hong Kong ,ruled by England for several decades ,operates after its return to our motherland and how it maintains its advantages as a modern and prosperous city.Morever,this trip widely broadened my eyes,enable me to ae myself in the perspective of future requirement for a succeful person,and to enhance my abilities in order to survive in the changing society.The moment I stepped on Hong Kong, my first impreion of it was its quick life pace The fast traffic and the hurriedly walking people made me hard to relax.Similar to other prosperous modern cities in the world ,the quick life pace in Hong Kong is a good example to show the secret of being succeful.Besides ,another feature of Hong Kong is that it ultilizes every piece of land more fully than other places in China.The double-decker buses and tall buildings quickly caught my eyes ,which made me can not help putting a lot of thought on the importance of exploiting our resources fully.In addition ,the citizens attached great importance to get all kinds of information from all over the world.,therefore, the scenes that people were busy in reading newspapers or other publications even on the buses or subways bored the familiar pattern in public places.in Hong Kong.As is known to us all, the availability to acce to all kinds of information is relevent to a place's development degree.So trying to get the latest information ,especially those related to our current engagement is eential.Having seen these ,I was deeply motivated to treasure my time in college and to make full use of different kinds of learning resources,being active and being knowledgeable so as to keep pace with the modern world.Furthermore,there had great differences in the teaching pattern between HKBU and Guangzhou University.The teachers centred around cultivating students'own abilities to learn ,to study,so in their lectures ,they concentrated on guiding students to analyse the material from different aspects and encouraging students to demonstrate their own ideas ,while the teachers'were just as reference.What's more,they emphasized on learning by investigation ,learning by cooperation and learning independently.Among so many lectures we had attended ,what impreed me most was the lecture delivered by Profeor Yang,who performed well on how to make students learn in cla and on how to teach students to learn on their own after cla.At the beginning of her lecture ,instead of reviewing the last leon and introducing the new leon ,as what was common in our school,she spent a lot of time on aigning the tasks after cla,of which she emphasized that students should conceive their own ideas and prove them ,however, their ideas were not allowed to have any similarities to what they had been told in previous cla.Besides ,students had to have a clear idea of how long their presentation would last and tell the audience before hand.With these requirements ,the students needed to have an overall arrangement of their work ,which prove to be a good way of helping students drive the habit of consider matters and pay enough attention to details.There were other significant characteristics observed in Profeor Yang'letures.Firstly ,she let the students print her PPT out so that the students could be familiar with what she was going to deliver,knowing her teaching procedures ,therefore the cla efficiency was highly improved.In addition,she designed her PPT concisely and clearly ,which highlighted the main points so as to give the students the most effective information.In this way ,students could easily acquire what they were expected of.Secondly,Yang was skillful in conveying the information to students by means of understanding things from the angle of students ,which could shorten the gap between teachers and students and make students willing to accept what they were input.Morever,she would connect the theories with reality,also with some humorous stories ,which made her cla vivid ,interesting.and succeful.The last but not least ,a succeful teacher will guide her students to see the relations between different parts of knowledge ,let them know that different fields of knowledge are always connected with each other,and that a succeful learner should integrate diferent fields of knowledge ,instead of separating them.That was highly demonstrated in Yang'lecture.All in all,the visit to HKBU was a meaningful experience for me,which brought different views to me and enlightened me a lot for one thing,and helped me come to realize that “Travel is an edifying experience, especially for young people.”,and I should set my sights higher also broader.Besides ,there are much more knowledge from many sources besides books.,which motivate me to cherish the time and resources in college ,and to make great efforts to obtain as much knowledge as poible.
