各位朋友大家好！今天我们要参加的是有着“千里长旱不断流，万年连雨水碧青”美誉的金鞭溪。
金鞭溪是世界上最美丽的峡谷之一，整个峡谷全长大约7.5千米，谷宽30-50米，峡谷两边的山峰平均海拔为300-500米。金鞭溪就好比张家界这位“绝代佳丽”身上的一条蓝色丝带。它把“奇峰三千，秀水八百”的山水美发挥到了极致!
那金鞭溪到底是一条什么样的峡谷呢？著名文学家沈从文赞誉它是“张家界的少女”，当年张家界的宣传者一著名画家吴冠中先生在此曾赞誉它是“一篇童话般的世界”。现在就请大家跟随我沿着沈老和吴老先生当年的足迹去揭开金鞭溪神秘的面纱吧！
请大家注意看左边这些奇特的植物，它就是国家一级保护动物——珙桐。珙桐是多年生木本花卉，通常在春末夏初开花，花呈白色，枝头上略带一点紫红，很像鸽子的头和嘴，话身有两片又大又长的苞片，像是一对翅膀。整个花朵的形状就像放飞的鸽子。这是我国特有的珍贵树种，因而外国人亲切地称它为“中国的鸽子花”。
现在大家请看峡谷的两旁，这种高大而华贵的塔形树，也是国家一级保护植物——水杉。水杉是一种非常古老的树种，人们曾经以为它已经在第四级冰川袭击的时期绝迹了，然而1941年我国的植物学家在四川省的万县的磨刀沟发现了它，1982年开发张家界时人们发现这里长着大面积的水杉及3000多种珍奇植物，这真是大自然赐予的一笔巨大财富呀！
大家请往右前方看，前面这座高耸入云的石柱就是闻名遐迩的金鞭岩，而金鞭溪就是因为长年流经此岩而得名。它高378米，方方正正，上细下粗，棱角分明，如同一支高举的铜鞭，直插云霄，令人望而生畏。加上其岩石结构为红色石英砂岩，在阳光照射下，金光闪闪，故名金鞭岩。金鞭岩是整个张家界景区最高、最陡、最壮观的石峰，人们称赞它是“名山大川处处有，惟有金鞭奇上奇”！
再请大家看仅仅依偎着神鞭左边的巨峰，它好像一只雄鹰，鹰头高昂，凌空展翅，一只翅膀还有力的半抱着金鞭岩，所以叫它“神鹰护鞭”。这也是金鞭溪的王牌景点之一。
看了金鞭溪的雄姿，大家可能会奇怪：大自然为何会如此神奇？根据科学的论证，大约三亿多年以前，这里曾经是一片汪洋大海。大约一亿多年以前，由于海浪的冲击，石英砂岩在海底沉积了五百多米厚。后来经过新构造运动的强烈抬升，这里成了陆地。地面抬升后，在流水深切的作用下，一些细小的砂石被冲走了，加上在重力作用下岩石的崩塌，又被雨水、溪流慢慢的冲刷等综合作用，就使得张家界地区在漫长的岁月中逐渐形成了由一系列柱峰、方山、峡谷组合而成的这种奇特的“石英砂岩峰林地貌”。看到此情此景，没有人不会为大自然的鬼斧神工而惊叹。
峰回路转，鸟语花香，不知道大家注意到没有？沿溪遍布着一种形状怪异的花，它的形状特别像龙虾，不错，这就是龙虾花。龙虾花是一种珍贵的草本植物，它春天发芽，夏天开花，秋天结实，冬天落叶。
人们都说武陵源有两只明亮的眼睛，现在看到的就是其中之一的——紫草潭。据说以前潭壁上长着一种紫色的草，因此而得名“紫草潭”。在这里，河道突然变宽，从砂刀沟直泻而下的水经过长约15米的层层阻滞已变得没有多少波纹和涟漪了，水平如镜。紫草潭宽4米，水深约5米，是国家二级保护动物娃娃鱼生活的温床，也曾经是著名的金鞭鱼的产地。

Jinbianxi----The Golden Whip Stream
Hello，friends!Today the spot we will visit is Jinbianxi——the Golden Whip Stream.It is well-known for “suffering from thousand years of drought ,its water will never run dry;suffering from endle exceive rain, its water will always be green”.Jinbianxi is one of the most besutiful valleys in the world.It is about 7.5km long.Jinbianxi is like a blue silk ribbon around Zhangjiajie.It displays the beauty of “300 strange peaks and eight hundred fine waters” to the utmost.Then what a valley is Jinbianxi after all? Mr.Shen Congwen,a famous Chinese writer,praised it to be “maid of Zhangjiajie”.Wu Guanzhong---the then promoter of
Zhangjiajie and a Chinese painter,praised it as “a world in Children Stories”.Now let us go and unveil the mysteries of Jinbianxi along the footprints of Mr.Shen and Mr.Wu.Please carefully look at the strage plants on the left side.They are the national first-cla protective plants—dove tree is a perennial woody flower,which generally blooms in the end of spring and beginning of summer.The flower is white ,but its stigma has slight purplish red,like a dove’s head and mouth,and its flower has two long and big bracts,like a pair of wine.The whole shape of the flower is like a flying dove.This is a peculiar kind of China and foreign friends endearingly call it “the Chinese Dove Flower”.Now please look at both sides of the valley before you.What you are seeing is a tall and luxuriant tower-like—dawn redwood also one of the nation first-cla protective plants.The dawn redwood is a very ancient tree.People once thought it had thoroughly disappeared as a result of the aault by the Quaternary Period Glacier.In 1982,when Zhangjiajie was developed ,we found large areas of dawn redwood and other rare plants of over 3000 species growing here.This is really a huge wealth the great nature has bestowed us.Please look to the right front.Before us,the stone pillar towering the sky is the Jinbianxi---the Golden Whip Rock,well-known far and wide.Jinbianxi---is named just because it always runs past Jinbianxi.This rock is 378m high,just square,thicker in the power part,shape-topped,and with clear corners and edges on its four sides.It resembles a lifted steel whip,directly pointing into sky,making people watch it with awe.What’more,its stone strecture is that of red quartzose sandstone and limestone,which,in the sunshine,illuminates golden lights,and hence the name Golden Whip Rock.The Golden Whip Rock is the highest,steepestand most magnificent stone peak in the scenic areas of Zhangjiajie.As people praise,everywhere you can see famous mountains and great rivers,only the Golden Whip Rock is the most marvelous of all the marvelous.Look,there is something more marvelous still.A huge peak is leaning closely onto the left side of the magic whip.It resembles a powerful eagle,with its head
lifted.One of its wings is flapped,ready to soar into the sky ,while the other is still half-embracing the Golden Whip Rock,rendering an imposing manner.So it was called”the Condor Guarding the Whip”,also one of the ace scienic spots of Jinbianxi.After seeing the spectacle of Golden Whip Rock,you may wonder why the nature should be so mysterious.As demonstrated by science,about three hundred million years ago,it was a vast sea here.About one hundred million years ago,as the result of lash by sea waves,quartzose sandstone deposited over 500-meter thick on the sea floor.Later,this place became dry land after the strong rise by the new structure movement.When the land surface rose,with the action of flowing water,some small sands and stones were washed away.Besides,rocks collapsed under the action of gravity,and were washed slowly by rainfalls and streams.All these factors have made Zhangjiajie area a rocky and woody landform of peculiar quartzose sandstone,which is composed of series of pillars and peaks,mountain and valley.Seeing this marvelous scenery,we cannot but sigh for the uncanny craftsmanship of great mature.We are enjoying singing birds and fragrant flowers in mountains and path full of twists and turns.Please notice those strange-shaped flowers along the stream.Right,they are called”Lobster Flowers”.The lobster flowers is a rare plant,which sprouts in spring,blooms in summer,and bear in autumn and whose leaves fall in winter.Well,let’s continue our visit.People say that Wulingyuan has two bright eyes,and now see one of them----Zicaotan(Purple Gra Pond).It is so called because a kind of purple gra was said to always grow on the wall of the pond.Here, the river course abruptly widens,and the waters rushing down from Shadaogou,after a15f repeated blocking,no longer have many ripples and waves.The surface of the pond is as tranquil as a mirror.The pond,with a width of 4m and a depth of about 5m,is the hoted for the national second-cla protective animals---giant salamanders,and once was the production place of the renowned Golden Whip Fish.Well,that’s all for my today’s explanation.Thank you!
