Good morning from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.I’m Lester Holt, anchor of “NBC Nightly News”.I want to welcome you to the first presidential debate.The participants tonight are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.Let me introduce tonight’s fomulas for you: the debate is divided into three segments, we will explore three topic areas tonight: Achieving prosperity;America’s direction and security America.I will invite you to applaud, at this moment, as we welcome the candidates：Democratic nominee for president of the United States, Hillary Clinton,and Republican nominee for president of the United States, Donald J.Trump.此处有掌声！！
Clinton: how are you, Donald? Holt:（分别）good luck to you.We are going to focus on many of the iues that voters tell us are most important, and we’re going to pre for specifics.Candidates, we look forward to hearing you articulate your policies and your positions, as well as your visions and your values.So, let’s begin.We’re calling this opening segment“Achieving prosperity.”And central to that is jobs.Beginning with you, Secretary Clinton, why are you a better choice than your opponent to create the kinds of jobs that will put more money into the pockets of American works?

“We have to do a much better job at keeping our jobs.And we have to do a much better job at giving companies incentives to building new companies to expand.”

Holt:well, I want to move to our next segmenttalking about Amercia’s direction.And let’s start by talking about race.The share of Amercians who say race relations are bad in this country is the highest.it’s been in dacades, much of it amplified by shootings of African-Amercians by police.Race has been a big iue in this campaign, and one of you is going to have to bridge a very wide and bitter gap.So how do you heal the divide?Lady first.Hillary: Race remains a significant challenge in our country and we need to restore trust between community and police.Our police should be retrained to use fore only when neceary.Everybody should acts by the law and respect the law.希拉里：长久以来种族问题一直是我们国家的一个大问题。我们需要重铸社区居民和警察之间的关系。同时我们的执法人员也需要重新接受培训，只有在万不得已的时候才可以使用暴力。我们每个人都要依法行事尊重法律。
