留守儿童问题是近年来一个突出的社会问题。随着中国社会政治经济的快速发展，越来越多的青壮年农民走入城市，在广大农村也随之产生了一个特殊的未成年人群体——农村留守儿童。留守的少年儿童正处于成长发育的关键时期，他们无法享受到父母在思想认识及价值观念上的引导和帮助，成长中缺少了父母情感上的关注和呵护，极易产生认识、价值上的偏离和个性、心理发展的异常，一些人甚至会因此而走上犯罪道路。
解决农村留守儿童的问题，我们不应看作只是农民工自身和农村的问题，而应是全社会的共同责任，政府应发挥制度优势的作用，为留守儿童创造享受教育和健康成长的环境和空间。要充分重视和发挥学校教育的优势，让留守儿童在校园中得到更多的关爱和帮助；增加社区家长学校中针对留守儿童家长的教育项目，改变外出父母及监护人的教育方式及观念；充分发挥社区对留守儿童的监护和教育作用；提倡在农村社区建立一些生产和生活的互助小组；充分发挥扶贫机构或非政府组织的作用，开展综合扶助留守儿童的项目工作；增加社会各界对留守儿童问题的关注；城市农村劳动力的用人单位应为务工人员与留守儿童的联系创造方便条件等。
